Trade-Forex.info Friday outlook, 30 October 2026. Assessment: 07:05 CET, Europe/Copenhagen. EUR/USD direction: neutral. Neither EUR nor USD is favoured without fresh verified quotes. Horizon: today’s European and US sessions.

A central bank can leave rates unchanged while keeping a future increase open. That distinction is the starting point for today’s EUR/USD assessment. Yesterday’s ECB press conference supplies published policy context. Today’s European activity and US labour-cost releases remain scheduled events, not known results.

What yesterday’s ECB discussion actually established

The 29 October rate decision left the deposit rate at 2.50%. In the subsequent statement and questions, the ECB said it had discussed whether an increase was appropriate before unanimously deciding to hold.

The bank described energy costs as a source of upward inflation risk and weaker growth. It also said underlying inflation was broadly stable and had not yet shown a material wage response. Those observations explain a balance of risks rather than a commitment to one future rate path. The discussion explicitly kept a later increase possible.

Our interpretation is that a hold alone cannot establish a weaker-euro policy signal. Equally, discussing an increase does not establish that one will happen. The currency implication depends on how subsequent evidence changes the relative outlook for European and US policy, and on what markets have already priced.

Today’s European calendar: activity first, conclusions later

The Eurostat calendar lists the preliminary flash GDP estimate for the third quarter of 2026 and unemployment for September today. These refer to different periods. The GDP estimate concerns July through September; the unemployment release concerns September. Neither measures the economy during this morning’s trading session.

The live calendar verified for this assessment did not display an exact release hour. We therefore identify them as due today without assigning an unverified time. Their results were not available in the checked material at the source cutoff.

The ECB weekly diary separately schedules its Survey of Professional Forecasters and Survey of Monetary Analysts for 10:00 CET. Survey responses describe expectations. They should be read alongside, rather than confused with, measured GDP or employment outcomes.

US labour costs: wages and benefits belong together

The BLS October schedule places the third-quarter Employment Cost Index at 08:30 Eastern today, equivalent to 13:30 CET. Copenhagen has returned to standard time while the United States remains on daylight time this week.

The current ECI release page still shows the June reference-period release and explicitly lists today’s September release as forthcoming. Old figures are not relabelled as today’s news here. The index covers compensation, including wages, salaries and benefits. Comparing the same series and reference period matters when assessing whether labour-cost pressure is changing.

Conditional EUR/USD scenarios for Friday

Main scenario: neutral while the scheduled evidence remains pending. There is no verified fresh exchange-rate observation or verified market consensus in this assessment, so neither currency receives a directional advantage.

Down alternative: firmer US compensation pressure, if it supports tighter Fed expectations relative to the ECB, could strengthen USD against EUR and lower EUR/USD. Weaker European activity could reinforce that relative-policy reading.

Up alternative: softer US labour-cost pressure combined with resilient European activity, if it supports firmer relative ECB expectations, could strengthen EUR against USD and lift EUR/USD. Mixed releases may leave the neutral view intact.

Published results, revisions and verified policy remarks that materially change that comparison would trigger reassessment. A release need not produce the assumed currency response. These are uncertain scenarios, with no numerical FX forecast, targets, entries, exits or assigned probabilities.
