Sessions, not stock exchanges
Forex is a decentralised market. These financial centres help organise the trading day; no single exchange opens or closes the entire currency market.
Time zones handled for you
The calendar accounts for daylight saving time in each city. Session overlaps can shift when countries change their clocks on different dates.
Check your broker’s schedule
Bank holidays can reduce liquidity even during a scheduled session. Instrument hours, daily breaks and holiday closures depend on your broker.
How the session calendar works
The display uses indicative weekday session windows in each centre’s own time zone. It is a planning aid, not confirmation that a particular broker or instrument is available to trade. “Open” describes a scheduled session; it does not measure trading volume or liquidity.
| Session | Local hours | Time zone |
|---|---|---|
| Sydney | 08:00–17:00 | Australia/Sydney |
| Tokyo | 09:00–18:00 | Asia/Tokyo |
| London | 08:00–17:00 | Europe/London |
| New York | 08:00–17:00 | America/New_York |
The weekly reference runs from Sunday 17:00 to Friday 17:00 in New York. A gap between highlighted regional sessions does not mean the worldwide market is closed. Public holidays are not automatically applied; broker schedules and rollover breaks can differ. The four local windows are a common convention, and session definitions vary between sources.
