Trade-Forex.info weekend briefing, 24 October 2026. Assessment: 07:02 CEST, Europe/Copenhagen. EUR/USD direction: neutral, with neither EUR nor USD favoured. Forecast horizon: the Sunday 25 October reopening and Monday 26 October sessions. The later policy calendar is preparation, not a forecast of either decision.

Two meetings. Two separate decisions.

Next week’s calendar puts the Fed and ECB close together. That makes the sequence useful, but it does not establish what either institution will decide. Our weekend task is to separate three things: evidence already published, events still scheduled and the conditions that could change the relative outlook for the euro and dollar.

Forex is in its normal weekend pause. Our session guide currently shows an indicative weekly reopening on Sunday 25 October at 22:00 CET, equivalent to 21:00 UTC and 17:00 EDT. Forex has no single central exchange; instrument hours, breaks and broker availability can differ. This is a scheduling convention, not a promise that every account can trade then.

A survey is evidence, not an outcome

The ECB’s September Consumer Expectations Survey, published on 23 October, reported median one-year inflation expectations of 3.1%, compared with 3.0% in August. Expected economic growth over the next year fell to minus 1.5%, from minus 1.2%.

Those are consumer expectations, not realised inflation or GDP. The release also says they do not represent the views of ECB decision-making bodies. Our interpretation is mixed: inflation persistence and weaker demand can point toward different policy pressures. One survey therefore cannot identify the next decision or establish an observed EUR/USD response.

Put the scheduled events in order

The Fed calendar schedules the FOMC meeting for 27 and 28 October. The 28 October announcement is listed at 14:00 US Eastern time and the press conference at 14:30. For Copenhagen that week, these convert to 19:00 and 19:30 CET. Both remain future events, with outcomes unknown.

The ECB meeting calendar lists its monetary policy meeting on 28 and 29 October. Its weekly diary schedules publication of the decisions on 29 October at 14:15 CET, followed by the press conference at 14:45 CET. A meeting date or press-conference slot is not a published rate result.

Our editorial approach is to read each decision and its explanation separately before comparing the policy paths. An unchanged rate, for example, would not by itself describe the accompanying growth assessment, inflation concerns or future guidance. We have not verified market consensus or current pricing, so we do not call any hypothetical outcome a surprise.

The clock changes before the decisions

The European clock change is Sunday 25 October: 03:00 CEST becomes 02:00 CET in Copenhagen. NIST’s 2026 schedule puts the US change on 1 November. New York consequently remains on EDT during the coming policy meetings, while Copenhagen is on CET. Their difference is five hours that week. Today’s assessment still uses CEST.

Conditional EUR/USD scenarios

Main scenario: neutral for the reopening and Monday sessions. Neither currency is favoured without fresh verified quotes. The mixed survey and future meeting schedule provide context, rather than a measured intraday signal.

Down alternative: weaker euro area evidence or firmer Fed expectations relative to the ECB could strengthen USD against EUR and move EUR/USD lower. Up alternative: firmer relative ECB expectations or softer US guidance could strengthen EUR against USD and support EUR/USD. New official guidance, material revisions or a changed relative growth and inflation picture would require reassessment. These scenarios remain uncertain; no numerical exchange-rate forecast is made.
